Executive Functioning Coaching

What is executive
functioning coaching?
Executive functioning skills are the skills that help us establish structures and strategies for managing everything from small tasks to big projects. They’re necessary life skills that all learners need for success.
Students with executive functioning challenges experience barriers to efficient learning. Students can be disorganized, often forget to complete or turn in assignments, have difficulty completing long-term assignments, or have difficulty focusing.
Executive Functioning skills include the ability to:
-
Prioritize tasks
-
Be organized
-
Get started on something right away
-
Focus and pay attention
-
Manage time efficiently & effectively
-
Be flexible when circumstances or surroundings change
-
Persevere through difficult situations

Executive functioning
also helps with:

-
Working memory
-
Metacognition
-
Emotional & physical self-control
Executive functioning is the cognitive process of all of these skills working together to execute thoughts and activities, make decisions, and complete tasks and projects.
The good news is that students can learn these skills to help them overcome challenges and experience success in school and beyond. By explicitly teaching kids these skills, we rethink how to empower students.
